Mark Soukup , Peggy Clark, Sharon Ross, and Scott Bush

On November 10, 2011, Sharon was recognized by the Colorado Society of CPAs as an “Everyday Hero”.  This is the second time in three years that a professional at our firm has been an honoree; Mark was recognized in 2009.  Since 2002, the CSCPA has annually recognized a select few CPAs who make a difference not only in the accounting profession, but also in their communities and in the lives of others.

Relay For Life 2011

On Saturday, June 4th, our firm participated in the annual (our 3rd) Fort Collins Relay for Life event!  The event was held at the Fort Collins High School track again this year.  This year's relay promoted the message "Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back" with an event dedicated to each part of the message.  As a part of the tradition of all Relay events across the country, the afternoon began with The Survivors Lap - To Celebrate all the victories over cancer; as it grew dark later in the evening, participants honored people who have been touched by cancer and Remembered loved ones lost to the disease during the Luminaria Ceremony; and finally, participants can Fight Back by personally committing to save lives by taking up the fight against cancer.  All our associates and their families enjoyed the beautiful weather on Saturday and all the kids really enjoyed listening and dancing to the live music from the different bands performing on stage.  Another year of a fun event for a great cause!

Stock Market Challenge 2010

On November 16, 2010, we participated in Junior Achievement's annual Stock Market Challenge Event which was held at the Embassy Suites in Loveland, CO.  This is our fourth year as participants and third year as a major sponsor of the event.  The Stock Market Challenge is a fun event with friendly competition that begins with a social hour and hors d'oeuvres and is followed by two - forty minute trading sessions.  The event raises money by having local companies enter a team in the Stock Market Challenge, which supports Junior Achievement initiatives in the Northern Colorado and Wyoming region.  With their company's support, each team receives an initial investment in the mock stock market of $500,000 or $300,000, depending on level of support. The teams are then given a list of local companies in which to invest their initial earnings.  Once the trading commences, periodic notices are distributed which indicate market events affecting the stock prices of the listed companies.  After the two - forty minute trading sessions, which cover 60 days of trading, all transactions must stop and prizes are awarded in two categories: 1) Highest Portfolio Value; 2) Highest Portfolio Growth.  We are proud to say that one of the two teams from our firm won the title of Highest Portfolio Growth!  We all look forward to participating in the fun evening again next fall.

Relay For Life 2010

On Saturday, June 5th we participated in the Fort Collins' Relay For Life event at Fort Collins High School.  This marks our second year of participating in the local event.  Relay For Life is a national event that celebrates the lives of people who have battled cancer, remembers loved ones lost, and raises money to fight back against the disease by encouraging local communities to organize a relay event in their city.  This year Relay For Life Fort Collins celebrated its 13th year with a "Birthday Party" theme.  Accordingly, the 12am-1am lap was designated the "Birthday Lap" with free pizza for all those still awake!  We all had a great time and enjoyed the live music, the games and activities for children, and a delicious dinner catered by Fiona's!  The Fort Collins event had a very successful fundraising year, with the over 600 participants raising more than $106,000 to help in the fight against cancer.

Respitality Night 2010

On Saturday, May 8th we partnered with Houska Automotive to sponsor a night of Respitality at Respite Care Inc in Fort Collins.  Respite Care is a non-profit organization that provides short term care for children with developmental disabilities and respite to their families in order to help them enhance their quality of life.  Respitality is a special event offered to parents of children with special needs and their siblings so that parents can have a "date night," free of cost to the family.  Volunteers from Soukup Bush & Associates and Houska Automotive were paired up with a buddy for the evening and enjoyed crafts, a group activity, and playground fun!  We all had a great evening and had a lot of fun spending time with and getting to know some of the wonderful and special children involved with Respite Care.

Relay For Life 2009

On Saturday, June 13th, Fort Collins and Loveland hosted their annual Relay For Life event at The Ranch in Loveland, Colorado.  Relay For Life is a national event that allows local communities an opportunity to raise money for the American Cancer Society in the fight against cancer.  Participants form teams that will have a member representative walking or running around the track all through the night.  Soukup, Bush and Associates formed a team of 15 associates who signed up to walk for various shifts from 3pm Saturday afternoon until 8am Sunday morning.  As part of the opening ceremonies and to kick off the event, all cancer survivors and their caretakers walked the first lap (Victory Lap) around the track.  After the Victory Lap, all team members united to take the second lap around the track.  Later in the evening, our team members and their families reassembled at our camp site to share a delicious barbeque dinner.  The Relay events continued with activities and games for children and several stages of live music playing late into the night.  Our associates and their families had a great time and are all looking forward to making this an annual event and participating again next year!

 Make a Difference Day 2008

Every year, the United Way of Larimer County sponsors "Make a Difference Day," for individuals and businesses to spend a day volunteering in various ways throughout their communities.  This year employees from our firm participated by volunteering on October 25th at the Riverbend Pond Natural Area in Fort Collins.  Our particular project was aimed at helping to restore the native plant populations by removing non-native weeds from the area.
